Training 2.12
Hi parents!
Early training was so incredible! We worshipped, we learned VBS songs, and we found out our Family Groups for the trip. So much happened and I cannot wait to recap it for you all.
To kick off our worship time, we watched an impactful video from John Piper entitled “Christ Crucified”. Our hope was that students reflected on the grace of Jesus and that “everything that was gained to me I now consider loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ” (from Philippians 3). If you want to watch the video, you can do so HERE.
Questions for family discussion:
How often do you reflect on the cross? (Parents, I would encourage you to answer this as well.)
Read Philippians 3 together and answer these questions
What does this teach you about God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)?
What does this teach you about yourself?
What is challenging about this passage? How does it relate to the “Christ Crucified” video?
Student Leader Devotion
Each week, our 6 students leaders will be giving a devotion. This year during mission trip training, our focus is 1 Peter, and your student should have received a 1 Peter Scripture Journal and a Bookmark with the reading schedule for the next 5 weeks. Caleb Cort kicked off our study of 1 Peter and did an incredible job reminding the students of our living hope — Christ is alive! HERE is the reading schedule if you would like to follow along with us!
Family Group Reveal
Your student should have found out their family group last night. This is so exciting! You should be hearing from your student’s family group leader very soon. Family groups will meet every week from now until the trip and will be traveling together while we are in the DR. Please be praying for our family group leaders as they lead and disciple your students.
