Recap of Training - 2.26

Hi Parents!

It was such a joy to see the students back together for mission trip training after a long winter break! We covered a lot during the training and we hope your student got to know their family group a little bit better. The closer we get, the more exciting it is to see everything coming together!

Scripture Reading & Student Leader Devotion

We kicked off the night with Carter Strech sharing with us from 1 Peter. We hope your students are participating in studying 1 Peter at home throughout the week before they come to trainings on Sunday nights. As they read through 1 Peter, we hope they are spending time meditating on these questions:

  • What does this passage teach them about God?

  • What does this passage teach them about others?

  • What do you like about the passage? What is challenging about them?

  • How will you respond to these verses?

If you would like to follow along with us, we are reading 1 Peter 2:4-25 this week.

Logistics

Here are the highlights of what we covered:

  • Cell Phone Policy - Students will not have their cell phones while on the trip. However, students will be allowed to have their phones on travel days (Saturday, April. 1 and Friday, April 7). We will take up their phones during orientation and give them back when we go to the airport.

  • Code of Conduct - Students have signed a code of conduct policy for this trip that spells out what they can and cannot participate in during the trip and during pre-trip training. Here are some of the points we discussed:

    • Students are prohibited from the use/possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia

    • Students are prohibited from the abuse of prescription and/or over the counter drugs

    • Students are prohibited from use or possession of alcohol

    • Sexual Purity: The Bible clearly teaches that all sexual activity, outside of marriage between one biological male and one biological female, is sinful and has no place in the life of a Christ follower. This includes heterosexual and homosexual activity and the viewing of all forms of pornography. As

we send out teams on short-term mission trips, we expect all Team Members to abide by this clearly defined biblical sexual ethic.

If your student is struggling with any of these areas, please know that we are a resource for you, your student, and your family. We are here for you and we want to help your student in any way we can.

Next Sunday - Parent Meeting
